TO SERVE ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF LEGAL AID SOUTH AFRICA IN TERMS OF SECTION 6 OF THE LEGAL AID SOUTH AFRICA ACT 39 OF 2014

 

The mandate and object of Legal Aid South Africa

Legislative mandate

Legal Aid South Africa derives its mandate from the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa (Act 108 of 1996) and the Legal Aid South Africa, Act 39 of 2014, and other legislation.

Section 3 of the Legal Aid South Africa Act 39 of 2014,

outlines the objects of Legal Aid South Africa as the following:

(a) to render or make available legal aid and legal advice;

(b) to provide legal representation to persons at state expense;

(c) to provide education and information concerning legal rights and obligations as envisaged in the Constitution and this Act.

To lodge a nomination for consideration of a person to serve on Legal Aid SA’s Board of Directors

       (1) You must be over the age of 18

       (2) We encourage you to read the conditions of use and privacy information

 

Conditions of Use

  1. Nominee must have given expressed permission of nomination to serve on the Board of Legal Aid SA
  2. Information provided must be true and correct
  3. The information provided will be considered as part of nominees to serve on the Board of Legal Aid SA
  4. Lodging the nomination does not guarantee appointment of the nominee to serve on Legal Aid SA Board of Directors
  5. No applicant can nominate themselves
  6. Only nominations received by the closing date will be considered

Privacy information

Legal Aid South Africa receives information for nominees and their curriculum vitae in order to consider such information for the purpose of those interested to serve on its Board of Directors

(a)  Personal information of the nominator and nominees will be used by authorized  persons within Legal Aid SA and by government bodies for the purpose of consideration of persons who are to be appointed as Directors of Legal Aid SA

(b)  Nominators and nominees are to sign off the online nomination form as indication of consent  for use of personal information and information on curriculum vitae
